Seminar: The Emergent Structure of Carbon Removal Certification

Presenter: Navraj Ghaleigh, Senior Lecturer in Climate Law at University of Edinburgh

Discussant: Zohre Kurt, Associate Professor

On 21st February 2024, the C-SINK consortium gathered for the project’s inaugural research seminar.

The seminar began with a presentation by Navraj Ghaleigh which focused on the news that the EU Council and Parliament have agreed to establish an EU carbon removals certification framework.

Navraj discussed the steps leading up to this agreement, providing an overview of the European Green Deal and ‘Sustainable Carbon Cycles’ and summarising the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (and the regulatory challenges within this framework).

This presentation was followed by a discussion led by Associate Professor Zohre Kurt.
