On 23rd April 2024, the C-SINK Consortium gathered once again for the project’s third research seminar. This seminar focused on the social impact and acceptability of CDR methods, aligning with the overall objectives of WP5. WP5 Partners are working to identify the social and environmental impacts, as well as the total economic value of CDR methods, in order to conduct an integrated assessment from these different perspectives.
Dr. Vanhuyse outlined WP5’s plans to conduct a diverse range of case studies, surveys and workshops, in order to understand how different socio-economic groups perceive these technologies and to identify societal barriers and incentives relevant to the implementation of CDR. Dr. Vanhuyse then presented key themes from her research, including social sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals, social life cycle assessment, social impact assessment, and social acceptability, and how the latter can be influenced by policy instruments.
This presentation was followed by a discussion led by Evangelos Mouchos, C-SINK’s Work Package 3 leader.
